Every Yatoshi product is covered for one year from the date of purchase against defects in material, construction, or workmanship. Here are the full terms.
The short version. Buy it new from us or an authorized US seller, use it at home as intended, and if it fails because of how it was made, we'll repair or replace it free within one year. Email support@yatoshiknives.com with your order number and photos to start a claim.
This is separate from the 60-day test drive, which lets you return anything for any reason within 60 days of delivery. See the return policy.
Yatoshi Limited Warranty
Yatoshi warrants to repair or replace any product manufactured by Yatoshi and purchased directly from Yatoshi or Yatoshi's authorized retailers if it is found defective in material, construction, or workmanship under normal non-professional use, and following instructions for care, for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase. This warranty is valid only in the United States.
To make a claim, contact support@yatoshiknives.com with proof of purchase, your name, address, phone number, and a description of the defect. We will evaluate the claim and, if approved, repair or replace the product at no charge. You may be asked to return the product, prepaid and properly packaged.
If a replacement model has been discontinued, Yatoshi may provide an item of equal or greater retail value. Replacements may differ in color. Products without valid proof of purchase will not be replaced.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover:
- Abuse, commercial or non-consumer use, neglect, normal wear and tear, overheating, or use contrary to the care instructions.
- Cosmetic changes such as scratches, dents, stains, discoloration, or minor paint chips that do not affect function.
- Damage resulting from improper storage.
- Accidents caused by fire, flood, or natural events.
- Commercial, professional, or workplace use.
- Any glass or porcelain components.
- Coating damage from improper storage, excessive heat, or metal or sharp utensils.
- Thermal shock, drops, improper use, failure to follow care instructions, or unauthorized modification or repair.
- For non-stick coatings: loss of non-stick properties, discoloration, warping, or separation of metal layers caused by high or prolonged heat.
- Damage from scouring pads, steel wool, abrasive cleaners, bleach, or similar products.
- Replacement of non-defective components. In multi-component products, only the defective component is replaced.
For knives specifically: rust resulting from dishwasher use or being left wet, chipped edges from cutting on glass, stone, or bone, and tips broken from prying are considered misuse and are not covered. Hand wash, dry immediately, and cut on wood or plastic.
Who is covered
This warranty extends only to the original consumer purchaser in the United States, or the US recipient of a gift, with valid proof of purchase. It is not transferable.
If the product was not purchased new from Yatoshi or an authorized US dealer, distributor, or reseller, this warranty is void. Questions about whether a seller is authorized can be sent to support@yatoshiknives.com.
Yatoshi may use comparable reconditioned, refurbished, repaired, or remanufactured products or parts to fulfill a claim. These are warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the product is provided "as is" and this warranty is your sole and exclusive remedy. Yatoshi's liability is limited to repair or replacement of the product. Yatoshi is not liable for the cost of substitute products, or for special, incidental, consequential, or indirect damages. Total liability under this warranty will not exceed the purchase price of the product.
